top 5 news stories

oracle, media, japan

5. Michael Jackson's death is my number 5 because he was a guy that no one really didn't like anymore and didn't trust him because of what he did to his kids. He was a guy that everyone hated and once he died, it was almost as if the world was going to end and how much people loved him and worshipped him after he was dead. He had lost his trust and then he is missed severely when he dies. That's ridiculous how everyone hates a guy until he is dead.

4. General motors bankruptcy is number 4 because why would motor companies struggle. The companies make so many fancy cars and the prices are only for the rich and no one can afford to buy those nice cars because of the economic crisis. The people of the world are not buying cars like they used to and it's hurting the dealers and has forced a lot of them to shut down. The car industry will struggle making money on the cars they make because people don't get cars anymore and if all you are is sell cars you probably won't make financially. They need to start to make less cars and less expensive cars for people to start buying them again.

3. Barack Obama inauguration is number 3 because he became the first black president in U.S history. He went in the office and it didn't take long for him to get busy and start making changes like he promised. He is a man who will go out and get supporters to get rich and famous to get in and that's what happened and people didn't seem to care about his skin color. It was an important day and I hear the speech or prayer had lots of peoples attention and was criticized as well. Obama handled the inauguration the way it should be handled and it made history in the U.S.

2. The incoming of Windows 7, the newest version of windows computers which is a lot faster and is more efficient than windows vista. Windows 7 is a version of vista but will perform a little bit faster and will have more space to store stuff and is more efficient to download things on and off the computer. The laptop version has more connections to put things on like a SD card and other down loadable items. This computer is not very famous and advertised but its out there waiting to be enjoyed.

1. The world wide crisis of the Swine Flu is number 1 because of what it did world wide. This is one of the worst sicknesses to hit that could approach you like you had the flu but it was a little different and it killed people world wide even in the U.S. It was a crisis that started last May and during the fall it hit areas so bad they had to close school for at least a weak to get people healthy. This is a virus that once you have a fever people take you to the doctor as a precaution to check for the swine flu which is also called the H1N1 virus. This virus has taken at least 1 person in every continent and it scared people when it hit the U.S. People thought that they were doomed to get it and if you got it you were down and out for a couple of weeks. That's all of my top 5 stories of the year and hope you enjoy.

Tiger Woods in a car accident

Orlando Sentinel, dead spin, ESPN

World famous golfer Tiger Woods was leaving his mansion around 2:30 Friday morning when he crashed his Cadillac escalade into a tree and a fire hydrant. Officials say there is no alcohol involved and no pain pills, but will have a fine of $164 for reckless driving because he wrecked on the street. His wife heard him crash and saw that he was hurt and she grabbed one of his golf clubs and broke out the back windshield and pulled him out of the car. He was lying in the street drifting in and out of consciousness and had blood in his mouth. He had surgery to repair injuries on his face and now he his at home and will not make the golf tourney this weekend.

My opinion to Tiger Woods is where in the world were you going at that hour in the morning. Another thing is if he is going out early get some sleep because I think he wrecked because he was tired. It's sad to me that such a minor wreck he was injured that bad and wasn't even conscious. Get some sleep Tiger and get some rest and drive safely from now on. You feel sorry that he was in a wreck but at the same time you're tired about hearing that he was in a wreck. What about his wife though? She was courageous and went out there and knew that he was hurt and broke him out of his vehicle and now is a secret hero, but a lot of people recognize her efforts in helping her husband which shows how strong their relationship is.

Maersk Alabama evades another pirate attack

wall street, USA today, google

The Maersk Alabama was attacked again by pirates, but this time after the ship was captured some men fired back killing three pirates in a daring nighttime attack and were able to evade the attacks. This time the ship had private guards fought the pirates off with gun fire and a high decible noise. The ship was attacked off the coast of Somalia, and was dropping off food to the war-torn country before heading on to Kenya. This time the ship was prepared for an attack and they were able to fight off with their guards on board.

If I were a pirate and I attacked a cargo ship, I would never attack it again, because the next time it may be armed and prepared for the attack. The bad guys never win and that's the case here. They should learn if they fail once, things are going to be worse the next time. I don't like pirates and don't know what the trill is attacking and hijacking the ships to capture the cargo. The pirates maybe sneaky, but after a ship is attacked once, you are aware of the danger and will have protection on your ship. I am glad that the pirates failed and they have to learn that the bad guys never win.

Vetrans Day

koreatimes, organlive, buffalonews
Happy Veterans day to all the Veterans out there weather you are serving or if you had served at one time in your life. My father served 8 years in the Navy and his job would be loading bombs on the aircraft's and made sure they were placed in properly. My older Brother is in the Army and what he does is if the military computers to run the operations aren't working, they rely on him to fix them and get them back and running. He has been in the army for about 5 years now. My brother has gone to Iraq twice and is getting ready to go to Korea for a year.

I am very proud of the veterans in this country. I thank them when I see a veteran, and I am very proud for serving our country. It takes a lot of guts and heart to suit up and fight for freedom and be able to make it through seeing people dying and you are wounded yourself. We don't realize that they are giving up their lives and fighting for their lives as much as they are ours. We do not realize what a soldier in the battle field goes through and the nightmares they will have for the rest of their lives. So I tell you now, if you know a veteran and see a veteran out on the street tell them thank you for fighting for our freedom.

Yankees win the world series

Chieftain, nj, huliq

Winning the 2009 world series in six games is the New York Yankees, who ended the 9 year drought of not winning the world series. The Yanks lost the two games to sensational pitcher Cliff Lee, and were the first time in a long time to win the World Series after losing game 1. Alex Rodriguez finally won the world series and was finally productive in the playoffs. The World Series MVP was given to Hideki Matsui. Jeter was the most consistent hitter, despite never hitting a home run he constantly got on base. The Yankees played as a team and were able to win as a team against the reigning champs, Philadelphia Phillie's.

My favorite team has always been the Yankees, so I am so very excited and happy for them. I thought the Yankees were a very hot team and didn't think anyone would get in their way. Their hitting was so great it gave pitchers nightmares except one, and that is Cliff Lee. The Yankees gave vetran Pedro Maritinez a hard time. The Yankees were a very exciting team to watch with all the home runs, comebacks, hits, and runs they got every game. They proved that they had over a 100 wins for the season, and had dominating performances to win the world series. Congradulations to the Yankees and good luck next year.

80 people dead after car bomb in Pakistan

voanews, latimes, bernama

On Wednesday in Pakistan a car bomb ripped right through a busy market street leaving 80 people dead. This is one of the deadliest incidents in Pakistan for a long time. This happened while Hilary was touring. Pakistan is in a war with the Taliban militants along the Afghan boarder. The U.S is on the side of the Pakistan's and support them to fight off the Taliban's then the bomb ripped through a busy market area in the afternoon.

My opinion is that it is sad that some lunatic would think about setting off a bomb to kill 80 innocent people and leaving over 200 people injured. You may be in a war but that's no excuse to move to the city and kill all those people. A war to me is meant to be out in the middle of nowhere where anybody who is not in the military can't be harmed. In this case, nearly 300 people were harmed and that is unacceptable. Take out to the country and fight there, things will go better out there and there wouldn't be all of these bombing in cities. This situation saddens me deeply and I hope the situation improves in Pakistan and hope the families can identify their loved ones.

Runaway Balloon case

nytimes, post, chieftain
The Heene family from Fort Collins wanted attention in a hoax saying a their six year old son was in a balloon hurtling across the sky. It so happens to be that the boy was home the whole time. The family wanted to get famous to have their own t.v. reality show, but instead face charges for a fraud and are expected to surrender. They got every one's attention saying that their six year old boy had climbed into a silver flying saucer that Mr. Heene had built in their back yard. After they went searching for the boy they discovered that he had been home the whole time.
It's sad that someone just to get attention for their own t.v. show would do a hoax like that. If they were smart, they would have done something else. Why would you say your kid is in a flying saucer when you have evidence of where it sat in your backyard. I would not risk something like that, especially if the kid was in the balloon he would've died. People do very dumb things just to get people's attention so they can be one of a million famous people on this planet, but instead, they end up facing charges and will probably end up being in jail when the case is over. It was not a good decision on their part to try to pull a stunt like that.
